Set in beautiful Thomas Hardy Countryside, Compton Abbas Airfield is situated 800 feet above sea level, with views stretching 27 miles across an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Often considered to be one of the friendliest and prettiest airfields in the country, we are a popular retreat for artists, walkers, camera clubs, locals and tourists from all over the world.
In the daytime visit our nationally acclaimed restaurant which is open for home-style cooked breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Sit on the runway terrace and enjoy the many aircraft that come in to visit us – perhaps even catch an aerobatic display! Or, if you are feeling adventurous, why not chose from one of our fleet of aircraft and fly over the area with a qualified instructor? Popular sites to explore include the Jurassic Coast, the Blackmore Vale, and the Isle of Wight.
In the evening, when everyone has gone home for the day, enjoy the peace and quiet at the airfield. Or visit Shaftesbury or Salisbury, both a short drive away and brimming with country pubs and quaint restaurants.
