Seated atop a hill in the heart of the Dorset countryside, Compton Abbas Airfield restaurant is perfect for a wake up breakfast, casual lunch or scrumptious afternoon tea. We use locally sourced ingredients where we can, supporting local businesses & creating a traditional English style cuisine.
Welcome...everyone is welcome at Compton during our published opening hours. Most of our visitors are in fact not pilots but people who just enjoy our location, views and food.
Breakfast...
Come and wake up with us at Compton. We’ve got a selection of sandwiches, full 'Compton' breakfasts and ‘yummy things on toast’ lovingly put together by our team. Our bacon, sausages and eggs come from the award winning 'Harvell's Butcher' just down the road in Iwerne Minster, and are all free range. We've recently added 'The Big Compton Breakfast' to our menu for those of you who like a really Big start to the day!
Lunch...
We think our blend of food and drink, passionate staff, spectacular views and aviation activity is the perfect recipe for lunch time feasting. Menu options vary from gourmet burgers to sharing platters, mouth-watering lamb shanks or granary baguettes with thick cut ham. Our popular ‘Junior Pilots’ menu is ideal for your little ones, or if you fancy a smaller appetite meal.
Wine...
Imported all the way from the enchanting South African soil, 'Vondeling' (pronounced Fondlun) is our chosen Boutique Wine supplier. Having visited the vineyard ourselves, met the Head Wine Maker, seen the 'holistic' and natural approach to making wine, we believe you shouldn't leave the premises without having a taste. Afternoon tea...
Dig your fork into a flavoursome carrot cake, a delightful victoria sponge, a rich millionaire shortbread, a cheeky fruit cake….and remember, cake is nothing without a warming cappuccino, latte or tea. Our cakes are all hand made and freshly delivered from just outside of Shaftesbury.
Runway Terrace...
Unusually for an airfield our runway terrace and viewing area where you can enjoy all our produce on our outside tables - overlooks the entire airfield. So whilst you are having your lunch or sipping your tea you will see all the action from the take offs and landings to the parked aircraft and experience flights.
Bookings...
You can reserve a table if you wish, and if it is a special occasion we recommend that you do. We book out a maximum of 50 seats over lunch but there are plenty more seats which we leave for people who turn up by road or air. Just get in touch.
Business Lunches...
We're well kitted out for your corporate days, with free wifi, lots of space and good grub! Enjoy us for your lunches, meetings, or even corporate days.
Special Occasions...
We love having you in to celebrate special days; birthdays, anniversaries, stag do's or local groups & societies, we think we've got something for all of you! Just give us a ring beforehand to book in as we can't accept groups over 12 without prior notice. We can arrange for birthday cakes, champagne, and set meals too.
Nitty Gritty stuff... Tables in the restaurant are for those eating main meals between 12pm - 2pm. We do have a small coffee area if you wish to have tea & cake over lunchtime. No picnics please! Cheques not accepted. Credit cards for over £10-00. Regrettably no dogs allowed. A deposit of £5-00 per person will be taken for groups over 9 persons on weekend days. Enjoy your visit!
