The venue for this years Festive Christmas Craft Fair will be Hangar 1 with the beautiful de Havilland aircraft decorated in fairy lights providing the magical back drop. Entry is free and the fair will open at 1100 and finish at 1500 although the restaurant will be open from 0930 until 1630. We suggest booking a table!
Our Christmas Fly In this year will see some local independent traders selling their Christmas goodies in our craft fair. We will have a range of festive goodies on the menu too; mulled wine on tap, lovely handmade treats from our local cake supplier, cinnamon coffees, and a lot more.
We would love to see our members and our flying visitors partake in the spirit of the event. If you arrive as Father Christmas, an Angel, Elf or even better a Christmas Pudding we will in return provide you with a free landing fee. For those of you who come up on the day, whether student, solo hire or aircraft owner, there will be a prize for the best Christmas fancy dress. Compton Ops will be sure to be worse dressed with the fancy dress box already out the loft.
We have some very different stalls this year, one of which is Chap Clothing. Always immersed in country activities and with an existing passion for design, quality & craftsmanship you couldn’t go wrong with a Christmas purchase from local owner Harry’s stall.
Jewellery is a must at Christmas and this year we are hoping to be joined by Helen Beardon-Hambleton who takes 100 year old silver cutlery and turns it into something really special. With the ornate engraving at the ends of the cutlery handles she is able to make the most amazing and unique items of jewellery.
We will also be welcoming another new stall holder to this years fair and that is Aviation Artworker, Steve Walker. He records a persons flying careers onto rustic timber in the shape of a tail plane. His work would be a gift that would capture a persons flying history that could be kept and admired for prosperity and pride.
Nick Rose, childrens author of the aviation books Myro’s Adventures, will be here not only signing copies of his books for our younger aviation enthusiasts but also presenting the prize from our writing completion we are holding. We are looking forward to meeting the children who have won an Authors Visit to their school and also reading all about the adventures our Harvey Harvard has had in their creative minds.
There are lots more in addition to these to give you a great opportunity to purchase some unusual gifts whether an aviation fan or not! We look forward to seeing you there.
